16 Jun Barrette, Braspennencx Claim Keirin Wins in UCI Fastest Man on Wheels
TREXLERTOWN, Pa. – For the second time in six days keirin was the main course in T-Town, however, there were not the same victors when it was all said and done. For the women, Shanne Braspennencx won the women’s keirin final while Hugo Barrette of Canada proclaimed himself the Fastest Man on Wheels on Friday night during the UCI Fastest Man on Wheels event at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center.
UCI points were also on the line for the International Omnium for the women and in a 72 lap points race for the men. In the women’s International Omnium, Jen Valente of the U.S., who also won the omnium a week ago here in T-Town, won. Anita Stenberg finished second, just eight points behind Valente. For the men’s points race, it was Shane Kline who amassed the most points and claimed those valuable UCI points for his win.
The final UCI points that were on the line were for Team Sprints for both the men and the women. For the women, the team of Mandy Marquardt and Madalyn Godby, both from the U.S., won the women’s crown while a trio from New Zealand comprised of Bradly Knipe, Zac Williams, and Jordan Castle bested all the other male squads.
Additionally, there was an overall omnium for the pro men which was won by Ashton Lambie of the U.S.

The 2017 World Series of Bicycling season continues July 23 with the UCI Festival of Speed. Sprinting comes back to the forefront on the track. Additionally, it is the first Dog Days of Summer in T-Town as dogs are welcome to come watch the action at the track. Also, Andrew Schaffer it set to perform live music in the plaza during Happy Hour.
Single tickets are on sale for Friday night and start as low as $6. Tickets can be purchased at the box office on the night of the event or can also be purchased in advance here. Gates open at 6 p.m. with racing starting at 7:30 p.m.
