14 Jun Keirin on Tap Again for UCI Fastest Man On Wheels
TREXLERTOWN, Pa. – For the second straight World Series of Bicycling event, keirin will be the main focus of the action on the track during the UCI Fastest Man on Wheels event set for this Friday at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center.
In addition to keirin events, team sprint is also on the docket for Friday night as well as another International Omnium for the women. All those events are for UCI points. For the men, there is a UCI-sanctioned points race as well. Additionally, there are two events for juniors as well. Both the afternoon and evening schedules for Friday night can be viewed here.
Japan looks to be the early favorites in the keirin with two Japanese riders, Yuka Kobayashi and Yuta Wakimoto, winning the women’s and men’s keirin a week ago.
Fans can also expect to see competition off the track as well as it is Wing Fling in T-Town on Friday night. Fans can enter to compete in a wing eating contest with the winner taking home a brand new Weber Grill courtesy of Bell Ace Hardware in Trexlertown. Fans can enter the contest by submitting their name here. There will also be wings sold at the A-Treat Breakaway Café.
One spot fans can enjoy the racing and their wings from is the VeloDeck. Single tickets for the VeloDeck are on sale for just $11 and include a free drink at the Beer & Wine Stand as well as the chance to be selected to ride in a car on the track driven by Marty Nothstein, presented by Corporate Limousine. The only chance to win the ride is by sitting on the VeloDeck!
Additionally, the Lehigh Valley Corvette Club will be showcasing the best of its fleet in the plaza.
Single tickets are on sale for Friday night and start as low as $6. Tickets can also be purchased at the box office on the night of the event. Tickets can be purchased here. Gates open at 6 p.m. with racing starting at 7:30 p.m.
