Hall, Rotherham Team up for Madison Cup Win

TREXLERTOWN, Pa. – Another day of racing, another rain delay in T-Town as the full day of racing for the UCI Madison Cup XLI on Saturday at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center was halted for nearly a four-hour rain delay before the final few events were completed in the night.

The entire UCI sprint tournament for the men and women was completed before the severe weather arrived in T-Town. Kazunari Watanabe of Japan won the men’s sprint championship final and Mandy Marquardt of Allentown, Pennsylvania won the women’s sprint championship final. Both riders won the title in two straight rides.

Three of the four events for the UCI women’s international omnium were completed during the day session before the weather delay. The final event of the omnium, the points race, was completed during the evening session and was won by Anita Stenberg of Norway who ended up winning the entire omnium with a total of 143 points. Jessica Bonilla Escapite of Mexico finished in second with 134 points.

The feature, title event of the night was the UCI Madison Cup XLI which was completed during the evening session. The team of Stephen Hall of Australia and Tom Rotherham of Great Britain won the hardware.
