Community Outreach Director

Location: Breinigsville, PA

At the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (VPCC), our mission is to break down the barriers to cycling, make it accessible to everyone, and continue our decades-long legacy of hosting world-class track racing. The VPCC is renowned for its legacy developmental programs like the Bicycle Racing League (BRL) and the Air Products Developmental Program that provide platforms for cyclists young and old to develop their skills and passion for the sport. We’re looking for an individual with experience teaching kids to ride and a passion for spreading the love of life on two wheels to join our team as our Community Outreach Director.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about cycling, community engagement, talent identification, and program development. As the Community Outreach Director, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and expanding our existing programs, creating new programs to reach more kids, and fostering strong relationships with regional partners.

What you will do:

  • Manage and oversee legacy VPCC programs including BRL and the Air Products Developmental Programs.
  • Develop and implement curriculums for all learn-to-ride programs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the quality and reach of existing programs.
  • Develop and implement new learn-to-ride programs at various locations within the geographic reach of the VPCC to introduce cycling to a growing and diverse audience.
  • Recruit, train, and manage coaching staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
  • In conjunction with the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League (PICL), develop and implement a plan to expand opportunities for scholastic-based cycling programs in the Lehigh Valley
  • Collaborate with schools to promote cycling as a healthy and inclusive activity.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with regional partners, including local businesses, relevant government agencies, and community organizations to grow participation in learn-to-ride programs.
  • Seek opportunities for collaboration and sponsorships to support program expansion.
  • Implement Initiatives to identify and nurture cycling talent and help guide them down the path of high-performance racing.
  • Collaborate with staff and private coaches to provide support and resources for emerging talent.
  • Manage and maintain fleet of rental bikes.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience within a cycling organization with preference given to hands-on experience coaching and teaching kids to ride bikes.
  • Proven experience in program development and community outreach.
  • Working knowledge of regional and international cycling landscape.
  • Comfortable communicating in English and in Spanish is a plus.
  • Competent bike mechanic.
  • Working knowledge of USAC developmental pipeline is a plus.
