Kim Geist - Inducted 2020

Few athletes and coaches have left as lasting a legacy in American cycling as Kim Geist. A world-class competitor turned elite coach, Kim’s impact spans both sides of the track—first as a decorated athlete and now as a respected mentor who’s helped others reach the pinnacle of the sport.

A Champion on the World Stage

Kim’s racing career is one of the most decorated in U.S. track cycling history. She was a two-time World Champion (2017, 2018), World Cup Champion, and held the title of #1-ranked rider in the world in both 2015 and 2018. Over the course of her career, she earned 32 USA National Championships, multiple Pan American titles, including two gold medals at the 2019 Pan American Games, and a World Championship bronze medal. She was also a member of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Long Team, and competed for three seasons as a professional road cyclist.

After more than a decade of international success, Kim retired from racing at the end of 2019, capping a career that showcased her dedication, resilience, and technical mastery of the sport.

From Elite Athlete to Elite Coach

Since 2009, Kim has coached athletes to world, national, and regional titles in track, road, and cyclocross across the elite, junior, master, and Paralympic ranks. She’s also guided individuals in other sports and general fitness, always with a passion for helping others achieve their goals the right way—combining real-world racing experience with science-backed strategy.

Her coaching philosophy is grounded in both experience and education. As she puts it: “Helping athletes reach their goals is what I’ve always wanted to do. And I’ve always wanted to do it the right way.”

In addition to her national and international coaching work, Kim has continually given back to her home velodrome. She has supported and continues to support the Valley Preferred Cycling Center as a coach in a number of Community Programs, helping new and developing riders experience the sport in an inclusive and educational setting.

A Lasting Legacy

Kim Geist’s story is one of excellence, integrity, and dedication—both on the bike and beyond. Her contributions to the sport continue to shape future champions, and her name stands proudly among cycling’s most respected figures.
