Keirin Cup Brings World-Class Sprint Racing Back to T-Town — Plus the Return of the Artie Greenberg Memorial 5 & 10 Mile Races

TREXLERTOWN, Pa. — Some of the fastest cyclists in the world will once again line up on the banking of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center this Friday night as the Keirin Cup takes center stage during Friday Night Under the Lights. Fans can expect explosive sprint racing, tactical endurance contests, and the long-awaited return of the Artie Greenberg Memorial 5 Mile and 10 Mile races, which were postponed after last week's weather-shortened program.

Due to the expanded race program, racing will begin earlier than usual, with the opening Keirin heats getting underway at 6:30 p.m. Gates will still open at 6:00 p.m., giving fans plenty of time to grab dinner, explore the venue, and settle in before the action starts.

Headlining the evening is the Keirin Cup, one of track cycling's most exciting disciplines. Riders will accelerate behind a pacing motorcycle before unleashing breathtaking speeds in an all-out sprint to the finish. Featuring an international field of elite sprinters, the Keirin promises close finishes, dramatic tactics, and some of the fastest racing of the summer.

The night's endurance racing will be equally compelling with the Madison, cycling's signature two-rider relay event. Combining speed, teamwork, and perfectly timed exchanges, the Madison remains one of the sport's most technical and crowd-pleasing races.

Adding even more excitement to an already packed schedule, the Artie Greenberg Memorial 5 Mile and 10 Mile races return after being postponed due to rain during last week's abbreviated program. Named in honor of one of T-Town's most respected officials and longtime ambassadors, these historic distance events challenge riders with a unique combination of endurance, strategy, and sustained speed. The races have long been favorites among competitors and spectators alike, rewarding athletes who can manage both patience and power over longer distances.

"The Keirin Cup showcases some of the fastest athletes you'll ever see on bicycles," said Gary Thornton, Executive Director of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center. "When you combine that with the Madison and the return of the Artie Greenberg Memorial races, fans are getting one of the most complete nights of racing on our calendar. It's sprinting, endurance, tactics, and tradition all rolled into one incredible evening."

Friday's program will also shine a spotlight on the next generation of American cycling talent as junior athletes take to the track just one week before the 2026 USA Cycling Junior Track National Championships return to T-Town. Fans will have the opportunity to watch Junior 10-14 Flying Mile, Point-A-Lap, and Points Race competitions, along with the explosive Junior 15-18 Keirin. For many of these young riders, Friday night's races serve as a final tune-up before competing for national titles, offering spectators a unique chance to watch tomorrow's champions in action before Junior Nationals begin next week at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center.

The action begins long before the opening whistle. Families can enjoy food trucks, kids' activities, bike racing games, bounce houses, the Velo Deck Party Porch, and opportunities to meet riders before racing begins.
