Position Overview

The Valley Preferred Cycling Center is seeking a driven, hands-on Marketing Manager to lead and execute all marketing and public relations efforts for one of the most iconic cycling venues in the country. This role is responsible for building awareness, driving attendance, increasing community engagement, securing media coverage, and delivering value to sponsors through consistent, high-quality marketing and storytelling.

The ideal candidate is equal parts strategist, content creator, and communicator—someone who can build a clear plan, generate media attention, and execute week after week without losing momentum.

The Valley Preferred Cycling Center (VPCC), known as T-Town, is a premier outdoor velodrome with a 50-year legacy of world-class racing, Olympic athlete development, and community programming. Each summer, VPCC hosts Friday Nights Under the Lights, a unique mix of professional racing, family entertainment, and local energy.

The Role

This is a high-impact position responsible for building a simple, consistent marketing and PR system that supports events, programs, sponsorships, and long-term brand growth. You will own how the Velodrome shows up across digital channels, in the community, and in the media.

Key Responsibilities

Event Promotion (Primary Focus)

  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns for Friday Nights Under the Lights

  • Promote key events including Opening Night, special race nights, and national events

  • Build weekly momentum and consistent attendance throughout the season

  • Coordinate messaging across digital, email, PR, and local outreach

Public Relations & Media Outreach

  • Develop and execute a PR strategy to increase local and regional media coverage

  • Write and distribute press releases for major events, announcements, and milestones

  • Build relationships with local media (TV, radio, print, digital)

  • Secure event coverage, interviews, and feature stories

  • Coordinate media presence on race nights and during major events

  • Identify storytelling opportunities around athletes, history, and community impact

Content & Social Media

  • Develop and manage a consistent content calendar

  • Capture and publish engaging photo/video content

  • Highlight riders, teams, and community stories

  • Ensure content reflects the energy and experience of the Velodrome

Email Marketing & Audience Growth

  • Manage weekly email communications (fans, riders, sponsors)

  • Grow and segment the contact database

  • Drive repeat attendance and engagement through consistent outreach

Sponsorship & Revenue Support

  • Support sponsor visibility across all channels

  • Assist with activation ideas and campaign execution

  • Help deliver measurable value to partners

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build relationships with local businesses, schools, and organizations

  • Promote volunteer programs and community initiatives

  • Support partnerships with teams, universities, and regional groups

Brand Consistency & Experience

  • Maintain a consistent brand voice across all platforms

  • Contribute to the overall event experience and atmosphere

  • Help position T-Town as a must-attend summer destination

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or event promotion

  • Strong writing skills (press releases, emails, social content)

  • Experience with social media content creation and management

  • Organized, consistent, and detail-oriented

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during the season (especially Fridays)

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently

Preferred:

  • Experience in sports, events, or entertainment marketing

  • Media relations or PR experience

  • Email marketing platform experience (Constant Contact, Mailchimp, etc.)

  • Basic design skills (Canva or similar)

  • Understanding of AI platforms

  • Familiarity with the Lehigh Valley region
