T-Town Showdown & Track Records Night Returns July 31 with World-Class Racing, Bicycle Donations Accepted and New Wheelie Kid Challenge
Bicycle Donations Will be Accepted This Friday Night for Community Bike Works
BREINIGSVILLE, Pa. – The Valley Preferred Cycling Center will close out July in spectacular fashion as the T-Town Showdown & Track Records Night rolls into Breinigsville on Friday, July 31, featuring elite racing, record attempts, family entertainment, and two outstanding local organizations working to grow cycling throughout the Lehigh Valley.
Gates open at 6:00 p.m., with racing beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The evening promises one of the fastest nights of the summer as many of North America's top track cyclists take aim at some of T-Town's most prestigious track records. With ideal summer conditions and a deep field of elite competitors, spectators could witness history unfold on the famed 333-meter concrete oval.
"Track Records Night is one of those special evenings where every race has the potential to become part of T-Town history," said Gary Thornton, Executive Director of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center. "The athletes know what's at stake, and when the conditions are right, they leave everything on the track."
Community Partners Take Center Stage
The evening will shine a spotlight on two organizations making a lasting impact on cycling throughout the Lehigh Valley.
Community Bike Works, a nonprofit organization that uses bicycles to teach life lessons, build confidence, and create opportunities for youth throughout the region.
Community Bike Works will be collecting donated bicycles during the event. The organization accepts bikes in any condition, helping transform unwanted bicycles into opportunities for local children.
Those unable to donate during Friday night's event can also drop off bicycles Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at either of Community Bike Works' Allentown locations or schedule an appointment for donations in Easton.
The Coalition for Appropriate Transportation (CAT) will also be on-site sharing information about its mission to make the Lehigh Valley safer and more accessible for people who bike, walk, and use public transportation. For decades, CAT has advocated for improved cycling infrastructure and transportation options that benefit the entire community.
A New Fan Favorite: The Wheelie Kid Race
Adding even more excitement to the evening will be the debut of the Wheelie Kid Race, a crowd-pleasing contest that's equal parts skill, balance, and entertainment.
The rules are simple—but far from easy.
Young riders must keep their front wheel in the air for the entire race. The moment a front wheel touches the ground, that rider is eliminated. The last rider successfully holding a wheelie claims the victory and plenty of bragging rights.
The event is expected to become one of the evening's biggest fan favorites as spectators cheer on the next generation of cycling talent.
