International Tempo / Point a Lap

The International Tempo is a fast-moving, high-strategy race where every point counts. After the first 4 laps, riders sprint for points on every lap of the race. The first rider across the line each lap earns 1 point.

Gaining or losing a lap can make or break your race—gain a lap and you earn 20 points, but get lapped and you lose 20 points.

The rider with the most points at the end wins, and in the case of a tie, it all comes down to who finished ahead in the final sprint. It’s fast, it’s tactical, and it rewards consistent performance from the very first lap.

The American Tempo

With the introduction of the Omnium and the International Tempo, we had to rename our Tempo race to the American Tempo. From the start, points are awarded each lap to the first two riders across the line (2, 1). On the final lap, the first three riders earn points (3, 2, 1). As in the International Tempo, the rider with the most points at the end wins. Ties are broken based on placement in the final lap.
