These one-day clinics introduce participants to the exciting sport of track cycling and will have riders doing laps on the track like a pro before the day is up. Lead by experienced and licensed coaches, this program is designed to make getting on the track safe and fun.
TRY THE TRACK 1
This program is open to riders 12 years and up – including adults. All participants are required to know how to ride a bike before taking this class. Among the topics covered: track etiquette and safety, important skills about riding in a group, what the lines on the track mean, and how to stop. This program focuses on skills and drills to make new riders comfortable and confident in their ability to ride a track safely.
TRY THE TRACK 2
This program is open to riders who have previously taken Try The Track 1 or who have previously ridden a velodrome and track bike. The goal of this session is to get introduce and familiarize riders with basic track races and rules. This program is meant to bridge the gap between track riding ability and an athlete’s first track race.
Use of track bikes is included in the entry fee – and all bikes are equipped with flat pedals and toe straps. Riders are permitted to use their own road pedals and shoes if they wish. If riders have their own track bikes they are welcome to use them, however we will not have staff available to service your bike so please be certain the bike is properly maintained and rideable.
All participants are REQUIRED to bring and wear a helmet at all times while on the bike.

All VPCC run community programs, training sessions and racing will fully comply with all relevant current state, local and USAC guidelines – including mask mandates. Due to the dynamic and ever changing nature COVID and these regulations, specific mandatory protocols for each program/race will be communicated directly to the registered participants per program/event. Compliance with all protocols, signage and staff instructions is mandatory for all participants.
