Danielle Van Niekerk: South Africa’s Rising Star Returns to TTown

A decorated athlete with global experience, Danielle Van Niekerk has proudly represented South Africa on the international stage, including at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. A multiple African Continental Champion in the Madison and Team Pursuit, Danielle also holds numerous national titles and has stood on the podium throughout her career—from juniors to elites. In 2023, she added three UCI podium finishes to her résumé, showcasing her consistency and world-class potential.

Danielle was long-listed for the 2024 Olympic Games and is currently pursuing her honours in Sports Psychology, balancing elite sport with academic excellence. She’s preparing to return for her fifth summer at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center, racing with Bike Works, and is actively raising funds to make the trip possible.
