Troy Sanders is one of the Lehigh Valley’s rising stars in junior cycling. A product of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center’s summer programs, Troy first got hooked on bikes while mountain biking with his dad and brothers. At just 9 years old, he started track cycling—and hasn’t looked back since.
Now with 9 years of racing experience, Troy has earned serious recognition:
Event Focus:
- 2024 Junior Rider of the Year
- 2024 Junior State Criterium Champion
- Raced internationally in Europe
- 2023 Junior National Team Pursuit Bronze Medalist (with an all-local rider team)
He currently races endurance events on the track—his favorites being the Points Race and Madison—and represents Edge Cycling and Team California Academy. Whether he’s racing on the boards or training in Redlands, CA (a favorite spot), Troy stays motivated simply because, in his words, “Racing is fun and I like it.”
When he’s not chasing laps, he’s grabbing a Wawa hoagie post-race—or reminding folks that yes, he’s technically Australian. His advice to young riders? “Work in the gym and get a proper bike fit—if you want to stay injury-free.”
Catch Troy racing at the Velodrome this summer before he heads to Penn State University this fall.
