Mandy Marquardt - Edge Cycling

Elite Women Rider

Mandy Marquardt calls Allentown, PA home and represents both the USA Cycling National Team and Edge Cycling. Mandy is passionate about making a difference and is an active ambassador in her community for St. Luke's University Health Network, Rodale Institute, Dexcom and TrueSport. She discovered her love for cycling at the age 10. She began cycling at the Brian Piccolo Velodrome near her home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. By 11, she became National Champion in both the criterium and time trial at the 2003 U.S. Junior Women’s 10-12 Road National Championships and raced at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center for a number of years alongside her Coaches, Mike Fraysse and Betsy Davis. At 15, as a dual citizen seeking international racing experience, she moved back across the Atlantic to Germany to live with her father and compete in endurance road and track cycling events. At 16, Mandy was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and told by a doctor she would never compete at a high level in sport again – yet she defied the odds, becoming a multiple-time national champion, record breaker, and international competitor. After returning to Florida to finish high school, Mandy relocated in 2010 to the Lehigh Valley, PA, to pursue her B.S. in Business at Penn State Lehigh Valley and continue to gain international race experience. In 2013, Coach, Andrew Harris of Edge Cycling identified her strength and sprint potential. For 15 years (2010–2024), she proudly represented Team Novo Nordisk, the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team. Mandy is married to track sprint cyclist Jamie Alvord and is currently pursuing her MBA with a concentration in Strategic Leadership with the Penn State World Campus - Smeal College of Business Program. Follow her on Instagram, Facebook and visit her website here.
